Voices for Children

On-going volunteer opportunities

Voices for Children works to create brighter futures for the children in San Diego County foster care through a unique program that allows volunteers to make a real difference in a child’s life. Unlike in any other program, Voices for Children’s volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) work one-on-one with a child or group of siblings in foster care. CASAs gather information from records and reports and communicate with foster families, teachers, social workers and other professionals involved in the child's life. CASAs learn everything they can about the children’s case and get to know each child. They work to ensure these children are set on paths to become successful adults and that their needs are met—in court, at their schools, and in their placements. Voices for Children provides all the training these volunteers need (no prior experience is required), as well as a dedicated staff supervisor to partner with them on the case. Last year, Voices for Children and CASA volunteers provided this advocacy for 2,052 foster children.
